How your account works
Credentials
When you create an account, RiftStorage generates two pieces of information:
- Account ID - A unique identifier like
acc_abc123xyz - Account Secret - A cryptographic key that proves ownership
Save your credentials
These credentials are generated once and cannot be recovered if lost. Save them immediately in a password manager or secure location.
Why This Matters
No Password Resets
We don't store your email or identity, so we can't recover lost credentials
Complete Anonymity
Your Account ID is not linked to any personal information
Encrypted Storage
Your file keys are derived from your Account Secret, which we never store
You're in Control
Your Account ID and Secret are the only way to sign in
Signing In
Simply provide your Account ID and Secret. Sessions last for 1 hour of activity, then you'll need to sign in again.
Quick Start
1. Register
2. Upload
3. Organize
4. Share
Encryption & Security
How It Works
Encrypt
Your file keys are encrypted with your Account Secret, which we give to you once and never save.
Encrypted at Rest
We store your encrypted files on cloud infrastructure that powers 20% of the internet. Files are encrypted in transit and at rest.
What this means
Your files are encrypted in transit and at rest. Files are never scanned or analyzed. Your data is never used for AI training. Stored files are encrypted data, which is useless without your credentials.
Storage and file limits
Every plan has two separate limits: how much you can store in total, and how large any single file may be.
| Plan | Total storage | Largest single file |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 1 GB | 2 GB |
| Pro | 500 GB | 100 GB |
| Pro+ | 1 TB | 250 GB |
| Elite | 5 TB | 500 GB |
| Elite+ | 15 TB | 1 TB |
Sizes are binary (1 GB = 1024 MB).
Which limit applies
Whichever you reach first. An upload is refused if the file is larger than your plan's per-file limit, or if it would not fit in your remaining storage. On the free tier your total storage is the smaller of the two, so it is the one you will hit.
Uploads are resumable, so a large file continues rather than restarting if your connection drops. If a file is too large for your plan, upgrading and uploading it again is all that is needed.
